I love three-year-olds. Especially this one.
St. Patrick’s Day didn’t go unnoticed in these parts. It was a day of wearing GREEN!, trying to catch leprechauns, rainbow butterflies and even better- RAINBOW cupcakes! I think my parents thought I was nuts when the littles and I made these in the afternoon, but they were worth the time, the girls LOVED them.
Here’s Ash wearing almost head-to-toe green before pre-school. She’s imitating a little Irish dancer, I think:
Her leprechaun trap wasn’t successful (see those cheery little guys dancing beside it?) but it was a big hit when she shared it with her friends at school:

The infamous rainbow cupcakes (thank you Family Fun!), they were magically delightful to look at:
My aunt and I put together this butterfly mobile thing that was meant solely for decorations. It wound up being a little bit of a headache because the butterflies get all twisted up inside of one another when the slightest change of air current, but it sure is purty… especially in afternoon light:
It was such a beautiful day outside so I chased these little ones around for a bit. I love that it’s the middle of March and warm enough for short sleeves, bike riding and long walks. An accidental shot that is out of focus and not framed well, but something about it- I just can’t bring myself to delete it, so I’ll share it:

I had been wanting to visit New York City for about six months now and when the weather was fairly warm, we couldn’t figure out a sitter situation to escape to one of the most energized cities I’ve ever been to. So, we put the plan on the back burner and thought we’d wait until next fall and enlist the help of our folks. But we started to think about it aloud and thought, hey, maybe we could visit as a family. Over Christmas!
How magical!
The older girls enjoyed ice skating at Rockefeller Plaza with Andy while Lauren and I stood on the sidelines and cheered:

And watched with amazement at the amount of people that could physically squeeze into an outdoor plaza while admiring the beauty above them:
We pit stopped at this famous shop for what seemed like four hours.
But with the holiday window displays and Santaland attractions, it was hard to leave (oh! And they had bathrooms, very important when traveling with three kids):

My personal favorite: the ornaments hanging from the ceiling inside Macy’s- LOVE the red, love the ribbon.
We took the girls to a charming children’s book store: Books Of Wonder, for which the store in You’ve Got Mail is based on. The girls loved it, as well as the bonus: Cupcake Cafe!

Darling, right?
It looks like I may have to do a second post, I’m burning the midnight oil again. Sigh… But I’m SO very glad that we took the plunge and went to New York City over Christmas with the girls. Who knows when we will ever get another chance to do this at such a magical time of year.
