"God’s finger touched him, and he slept."
Alfred Lord Tennyson

We shed tears today at the passing of Andy’s beloved grandfather, Arden Lee Fugate.

And in the same breath, rejoice that heaven received one committed brother, father and friend.

If you are the praying type, please keep this beautiful wife of his, Phyllis, in your prayers.

Willaby Wallaby Woosie, an elephant sat on Susie

Since I am in the mood to sing silly songs, I had Sarah join in on this fun rhyming/phoneme substitution one (there ‘s the kindergarten teacher peeking out of me!):

Willaby Wallaby Woo

Willaby wallaby woo, an elephant sat on you.
Willaby wallaby wee, an elephant sat on me.

Willaby wallaby woo, an elephant sat on who?
Point to, name a person, then sing…

Willaby wallaby werrah, an elephant sat on Sarah.
Willaby wallaby woo, an elephant sat on who?
Point to, name a person, then sing…

Willaby wallaby watty, an elephant sat on Attee

(this is Sarah’s version of Ashleigh: Attee, or Atty- I haven’t decided if we shorten with a "y" or an "ee" yet)

Repeat song lines adding a new name after first line.

So all my mommy friends of toddlers, get your singing voice out and let me know how the rhyming goes… Gail, I’m sure Cami can do this! Let me know!

Agreeable

I’d like to think of myself as an agreeable person. But sometimes I think I would like the disagreeable part of me that doesn’t agree with something, someone’s opinion or the conflicts of the world to just take over the agreeable voice, the soft voice that I have had for longer than I can remember — to just jump out and become bolder and be the voice of Susie and make how I really feel about things be known.

But the agreeable voice is always louder in my head. And it wins over the disagreeable part. I hope I am not the only person that struggles with the little voice inside called my conscience. Sometimes that little voice  that shouldn’t speak creeps out and ohmygosh! I can’t get it back because it’s out there and I may as well take my shoe and sock off so I can fit my foot in my mouth. But it’s a pretty large foot, and I haven’t tried in awhile, but I’m thinking it probably won’t fit in my mouth these days. Not because I don’t have a big mouth, mostly because I have a big foot.

Thankfully, there is no need to do try that this week since the disagreeable voice has been on her best behavior.

Something funny or something like that

I got my something funny one day after the move: An e-mail from some Air Force dude in Texas to Andy that ok’d orders for a PCS (permanent change of station, er, a move) to San Diego by 1 October. Do you know what that means? That the four black and blue bruise marks on my arms and six on my legs are unneccessary since the Air Force will move us. Pfft.

Funny? Maybe.

Ironic, yes.

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

We have surfaced for some air among the legions of cardboard boxes inhabiting our living space. We have ventured out in the hills and discovered that there is a Costco and Panera Bread in the same parking lot- neither of which is very far from our home.

We have met some very nice neighbors at the end of the cul-de-sac here… one that has a two-year-old little girl to play with the Bean!

We have experienced the joy of living in a ranch syle house for fours days and we love it. We love not running up two flights of stairs for someone’s missing wallet, keys, or ID card- oh wait, that begins on Tuesday.

We are happy to be here in our new home, new neighborhood, new community.
