Flashback Friday Interrupted

The PC is down (Andy thinks it may be a motherboard problem) and I don’t have access to the scanner (well, if I was more computer savvy, I would know how to work it with the wireless network– but since I’m working on my neighbor’s wireless right now, that probably wouldn’t do any good anyhow—Do you think I can get arrested for working on a network that isn’t our own? I probably should get off.)

Have a nice weekend everyone!

May I Have Another Cookie?

CookieOkay, I admit it, I cannot get enough of these Pillsbury pre-made sugar cookies. Located in the refrigerated section of your local grocery store, they are usually strategically placed near other necessary household items, so easy to see with their holiday packaging. I cannot resist buying one package per holiday season since they bake so easily and pop out of the oven all warm, soft and melt-in-your-mouth-like. Plus, the bunny and chicks that adorn their tops are just too cute!

Mmm…mmmm… when the Girl Scout cookies are out of season, just gimme some of them sugar cookies.

{this and that}

playing play dough can be especially therapeutic…I don’t wear khaki pants with red shirts because I might be mistaken for an emplyee at Target…one of the many headlines on the news this morning was, "Wal-Mart is not just a supastore anymore, now it’s a vacation destination… reeeeaaally…I hope my splinter underneath my fingernail can be pulled out by my husband… the pain is almost as bad as laboring without drugs… I have got to be better about keeping husbandly’s drawer #2 stocked up… I hope I didn’t downplay my meeting famous scrappers too much, I try to keep a level head about everyone being normal like me, but it was still pretty cool… sometimes I want to tell the ten-year-olds on the treadmill that they weigh less than my big toe and they shouldn’t bother being on there since they have 2 % body fat and nothing else to lose…Ashleigh can now play peek-a-boo and I caught it on camera (despite the fact that I do not where my camera at all hours of the day, Niss)…the rain has gone away for now, I think my apology to Mother Nature was accepted for what I said in suziebeezieland… don’t worry, it wasn’t anything too bad, just that meteorology isn’t really a science… or is it?

Happy Hump (-di-Dumpty) Day.

Reason # 283 Why I Love San Diego

Susielisairmanelyleah2Peas in San Diego sure know how to shop, eat and dish.

On Sunday, Irma , Nely , LeahLisa and I went crazy over at a scrapbook shop  and then enjoyed some Italian food at a quaint little place in San Marcos. It was SO fun. They must all think I’m crazy for how loud I laugh.

For my non-scrapbooking buddies out there, I met these ladies through an online site called Two Peas in a Bucket. This site hosts  ideas for you to use to create your own pages, online galleries for your own work to be displayed   and has message boards where you can "discuss" the scrapbook industry– or if you ‘d like, what’s piled up in your own kitchen sink. This creative outlet that I dabbled in the summer I got married has turned into a hobby that I am absolutely passionate about. I have met some amazing women (yes, Irma: IRL) through it.  I’m so, so lucky.

Snakes and Snails and Puppy Dog Tails

Tyler_braces

This is my little brother, Tyler, 14 going on 15.

Boys this age tend to be boisterous, aggressive, clumsy, and dirty.

It’s a shame that these are the early teen characteristics since this boy is charming, has an enormously soft heart, still plays with his legos (oh, I hope it’s okay to say here), is an exceptional sporty kid, and (on the verge of being) OCD clean.

Tyler is getting his braces off this week. And I’m pretty sure his boyishness  will give way to the mulling brude of a teen waiting to panther his way past that grill. But one thing I know for sure, you can’t change the inside of a boy’s heart just by giving his teeth freedom. We’re a lucky little family to have him. That’s why me thinks that 3 is the magic number– because you never miss out on the blessings of the third.

Love you, T.

Party Game Answers

Thanks for playing, ladies!
Here are the answers:
1. Who sent their party photo in first (clue:  She’s in Row 1)?
J.J. the Great was the first to arrive to the party! (She also spiked the punch!)
2. Who had the largest photo file sent in (at 3MB), but one of the smallest photos in the montage?
Melanie with the lovely Halloween hat on sent in a photo that was 2.6 MB.
3. Who invited Mr. and Mrs. Willis?
Brilliant Renee invited E’s mom and dad.
4. Who is really brushing their teeth in her party photo?
The ever-adorable and super clever Stephanie Reid covered her toothbrush up with a party favor!
5. Which lady had their photo taken by their daughter?
The charming and creative Suzanne had adorable Claire take her photo.
6. Who is the guest of honor?
No trick question, just wanted everyone to get one answer right: Elizabeth!
7. Who’s beautiful face got flipped because she was originally looking off the page?
Our fabulous Canadian friend, Michelle, was originally facing toward the left.
8.Who said, "Blowing bubbles in a photo is less than flattering?"
Inspiring Lisa had me cracking up with her comment.
9. Who sent in the smallest jpg. file?
That was the kind and crafty Katy there (I should have given more clues, sorry!)
10. Who’s partying in Austrailia? Finland? Kosova?
Aussie Jody.. . Finnish Susanna… Montanan Missionary Amber…extra point awarded  for Costa Rican Chrissy

It’s pretty late, but I think I counted the correct answers like this:
Michelle:    +8
Amber:        +7
Chrissy:       +7
Elizabeth:   +7 (extra Chrissy point)
Katy:              +7
Marie:           +7 (extra Chrissy point)
Steph:           +5
J.J.:                +4
Deanna:      +2
Susanna:    +2

So…. let’s have a roll off.  Ladies with +7’s, roll a die three times, add the dots up and record your score (obviously this is on your honor!) and we’ll split the tie that way. I didn’t know we would have a five-way-tie!!

Thank you for playing and attending the party! I hope you enjoyed yourself as much as I did.

SURPRISE!

Elizabeth recently won a huge scrapbooking contest- probably the largest one in the scrapbooking industry,  the Creating Keepsakes Hall of Fame. Here are a few of your pea friends that wanted to congratulate you, too!

The Final Word

Awhile ago, the publicist of the author of that cup e-mailed me and said that kc wanted to send me a little thank-you in the mail.
Andy teased me a bit and said it was some crazed internet reader pulling my leg.
Until today when I arrived home and there was a little package waiting at my doorstep.
And I made Andy retract his statement since this is what I found in the package:
Kc_rubber_ball_1

And I know all is good in the world since :

1.This reaffirmed that there is still a lot of good in people that you don’t know

and

2. I have a renewed appreciation for the internet and all of its amazing connections waiting to be found.

Now I have to try even harder to contain myself in Starbucks and keep from telling them that I have personal connections with the author (albeit electronic). You should see me get all jittery and excited as a nice barista hands me a cup with that saying!

And that, I promise, is the final word on that.

The Funniest Joke, Ever

When I was a junior in college, I had to take a many cumbiya type liberal studies class after liberal studies class. To this day, I cannot tell you what I got out of those classes (oh, a degree, that’s right), but I do remember very vividly one afternoon that my girlfriend and I received a dissatisfied (read: nasty) look from the professor whilst we sat in the corner of the class on a giggling trip. Do you ever have one of those laughing fits and you become incapable of calming yourself down? This is what set us off:

Bekah whispering to me: "A horse walks into a bar and the bartender says, "Why the long face?"

I was giving her a look of confusion, so she quickly took her hand and drew it over her face and down toward her chin to represent an elongated horse face. Over and over and over.

Get it?

I remembered that little joke today and had myself cracking up in the car… hehehe.

Ready for Spring

I know it’s only the 18th, but I am so excited for spring to arrive.  Unfortunately, the rain has overstayed its welcome and we might have to wait a few more days for the warmer spring weather… tsk. tsk. Things I love about spring (I know, I’m jumpin’ the gun here, bear with me!):

*Birds chirping.

*Fresh flowers budding.

*Bulbs springing from the ground (one, just 1 of my 30 bulbs has popped out of the ground!).

*Early morning walks. I would say run, but it’s too hilly around here. I don’t wear a cape, ladies.

*The abnormal desire to finish all those unfinished projects waiting for some attention!

*Reconnecting with old friends- seems like fall and spring bring that out in me. Woo-hoo!

*Baseball. I love the beginning and hype that surrounds spring training. There are so many games throughout the season, that around end of June, I just plain lose interest. I don’t know why.

*Party planning. Both of my girls and little sister have spring birthdays.

*New, light and airy flirty skirts!

I think the rain is fogging up my memory- that’s all I can come up with right now. ;)
