On Why You Should Double Check…
The First Thing That Comes to Mind
I saw this on someone else’s blog, I copied and left too quickly to get her name. Please tell me if you see it and I will give credit to her. Here you go, the first thing that came to mind:
I WANT: to be filled with joy. And share that joy with people around me.
I HAVE: a bookshelf of books that I received for Christmas that need to be, ahem, tended to…
I WISH: I could fix Sarah’s soft "c" and regular "s" pronunciation.
I HATE: that I procrastinate. Everything.
I MISS: grabbing a mocha in the morning on my way to work.
I HEAR: Andy talking to some stranger on the Internet in the other room. You thought I was weird.
I WONDER: about my grandmother’s childhood in Germany.
I REGRET: most personal choices I made in 1998. But am glad I am who I am because of them.
I AM NOT: a gossip. At least I try not to be. I DANCE: with Sarah, Ashleigh and Becca.
I SING: in the car – acappella. And when I do the dishes.
I CRY: at the drop of a hat. Sometimes at the news, sometimes when I’m frustrated, always at parts of Grey’s Anatomy.
I AM NOT ALWAYS: a good driver. I’m getting better, Anel.
I MAKE WITH MY HANDS: cards for people I care about.
I WRITE: in my journal and make doodles and sketches about scrapbook layouts. I’ve never used one of them.
I CONFUSE: my husband.
I NEED: to be more aware of time. And how quickly it passes.
I SHOULD: go to bed. Right now.
I START: the dishwasher immediately after I load it. Andy hates that I do, he would rather I wait until we are going to bed.
I FINISH: books in about a month and half. I’m the world’s most distracted reader.
Winners :)
Thank you for playing the campfire name game- even if you were a family member and received a blog strike e-mail. You’re good sports. I put everyone’s name that participated in a bowl (I couldn’t find a basket this morning that was usable so we used the cute bottom cup of a teapot) and we have a winner!
Yea, Michelle! And then I thought since Michelle and I are good friends, you might think it was rigged, so Sarah pulled a second winner:
Congratulations to Faye , too(who happens to be Michelle’s lovely little sis!). Their family is having some luck this morning, eh? Here’s proof that everyone’s name is the bowl
A my name is…
My family used to sit around the campfire and play this game. I pulled out this story before nap time and read the book to Sarah and thought we should play here.
Just take the next available letter in the alphabet and say a fictitious name, spouse’s name, place you’re from and product you make that all begin with that alphabet letter. I have a small prize for one of you luckies… I’ll have Andy choose your name from a basket.
I’ll start:
A my name is Abigail
I am married to Anthony
We live in Augustus
and we make aerators.
Okay, now, B. Go.
Update on Moving
I thought I ought to let my fellow blog readers know that the owners of this house changed their minds. They’re not selling- well, not immediately, anyway. Praise God for quick answers to our prayers. We signed another one-year lease agreement yesterday and we won’t have to move until September 2007. We lost the gardener, but kept the pool guy. Seems like a fair enough trade to stay. ha.
Thanks so much for your concern and sympathy, friends… It really would have stunk to have to move in five weeks.
And now back to your reguarly scheduled programming.
Mom, do we hafta?
I had the opportunity to practice taking belly shots with my friend Katherine today. We tried so desperately to get that one shot with her 2 year-old son, Lucas, kissing the belly. What we got was a lot of eye itching. I love this shot, though. My favorite. The second one is so you know Kat has a head, too
Isn’t she a beauty?
eta specs:

Same for the second, except shutterspeed was 1/250 and goosed up a bit ( B & W conversion / sharpening) in PSE.
Mom Secrets #261
Can’t Get Over It
I still can’t get over that Anakin turned to the dark side and became Darth Vader.
Flashback Friday: Lombard Street
If you ever visit San Francisco, visiting the crookedest street in the world is a must. It’s right up there with crossing the Golden Gate Bridge by foot. My German friend (that I happened to meet on the trip- did you know I talk to strangers?) and I visited Lombard Street in the summer of 2001 and true to its fame, it’s twisty and crooked and wonderful! There are a ton of tourists and traffic in the neighborhood since everyone wants a shot at driving down the switchback-like street.
You’ll have to excuse my picture taking skills- that is my finger covering a third of the photo. Isn’t that the charm of the photo?? Just proof that I wasn’t always quite as camera savvy as I am now. You wouldn’t believe the number of photos I have with this finger shot. ha.
